How to Create Social Media Content from National Days

National Days celebrate many things. From National Doughnut Day to National Plant a Flower Day, you can find ways to highlight the businesses, people, and locations in your community using these days.

National Pie Day is January 23rd and some Chambers of Commerce took to social media to promote businesses that offer pies. These are some of the better examples that I found.

Share A Photo of Your Businesses that Offer the Item Highlighted that National Day

The Mineral Point Chamber posted a photo of the five delicious pies offered at a local Cafe. The post correctly tagged the business and also had some fun emojis in the text. They had a great response to the post.

My only suggestion would be to remove the plastic wrap next time to improve the appeal of the desserts.

The Brick Township Chamber of Commerce also shared photos of the delicious pies at a local Chamber business. The photos were great, and they tagged the business and the chamber. They also used the relevant hashtags for this National Day and locally branded hashtags.

This is an easy post to make for a National Day. You can contact the business you wish to highlight and have them send you photos as long as you plan ahead.

Host a Video at a Local Business

This short 40-second video from the Mesa Chamber of Commerce highlighted the National Day with their Ambassadors and also promoted the Ambassadors program. They did a great job tagging the people in the video as well as the restaurant.

Our recommendation is to start out with a shot of the yummy pies and also utilize a better microphone to record the person who is speaking. But it’s a great job!

Take a Photo at the Business of Chamber Staff Trying out the Item from the National Day

This one is always a winner. People love to see other people they know and support in photos. The Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce visited a local business and took photos as they tried the pie. What a great way to highlight the business! Even better – they were sure to include the location of the business. It doesn’t like their tag worked (maybe the business didn’t approve it), but the logo in the photo helps to brand the image.

My only suggestion is to tag the personal accounts of each staff member so a wider audience will see the post.

Have Some Fun with the Day

This fun little boomerang video didn’t highlight a specific business (a missed opportunity), but it did give them an opportunity to boost the visibility of the Chamber through a quick and easy video.

To improve the post, we suggest they highlight the business that provided the pie, use some hashtags, and create a call-to-action for the post. Ask your viewers to do something or tell them what you want them to do as a result of viewing the video.

Summary

National Days give Chambers of Commerce a great opportunity to highlight local businesses, people, and places in your community. As you schedule your social media for the months ahead, pick out a few National Days that suit your community and go for it! Use one of these ideas or come up with something creative of your own. We can’t wait to see your posts!
